How can I convince my parents to try homeschooling?

I've done a lot of research about the American education system, the various kinds of homeschooling and their effects on students and have examined my personal life in and out of school, and it all has lead to one answer. I do my best learning when I do so by myself. I watch videos on YouTube and Khan Academy quite frequently and retain that information far better than what I learn in school. I know my best option would be unschooling, especially because I have a very specific career interest which I have done a lot of fairly advanced work towards since the age of about ten. The problem is, I am now sixteen and a junior in highschool and I don't know how to convince my parents to let me try unschooling. I don't do well in school as it is, because I get really overwhelmed by work far too easily. Any advice?

put together a plan and present it to your parents.

You might want to include a copy of Grace Llewellyn's book, Teenage Liberation Handbook.

To apply to colleges you will need a transcript and you will need to take SAT, SAT II and ACT tests, along with anything specific to your career goals (the LSAT, for example).

Set your plan up right through college, including the catalog from the college of your choice indicating they accept homeschooled applicants.

If you parents are concerned about a hs diploma you can find the requirements for one by googling ''your state' and 'hs diploma requirements'. Once you have to correct credits, they can fill one out for you. OR you can take a few classes at a junior college which will give you college credit, bypassing a hs diploma.

    have luck.

If your parents are unwilling to let you be homeschooled, you have to let it go. Study best you can in the regular system, but add to your education by doing those other things. I loved homeschooling my sons. One is now in prison and the other did not get his GED even. Ha!! But they are both educated, and sharp-minded. Sigh.
