if I have a ethernet cable connecting my router to ps4, can people still use the wireless connection?
If I want to make my ps4 wired because wireless lags. Can I just connect it using an ethernet cable? Its based ontop of the router ( on a second level). If I do this will my wireless connection be affected? Can my family members still use the inernet wirelessly whilst I use it wired? Is it possible?

Yes, that's fine - it's the idea of a router, it allows multiple devices to share the single internet connection.
In effect, the WiFi access point (AP) part of the router is just a device connected to one of the ethernet ports on the unit's ethernet switch, it's just internal rather than having a separate socket.
You can use both wired and WiFi & they can also be extended with extra ethernet switches to give more connections and/or extra APs connected to the router or a switch to give extra WiFi coverage.
The actual limit on a typical home router is something over 200 devices connected on any combination of wired & wireless connections... (Though the individual connection speeds would be rather low if they were all trying to do things at the same time.)
