Yes, the question is do you. I barrel race and never buy for bloodlines! In fact my best barrel horse had no papers at all.
I know bloodlines can make a difference, if your buying a baby its less of a lottery if you buy one bred for barrels because they want to run and want to turn its bred into them. That doesn't mean that a horse not bred for barrels can't do it better.
