is a 32 year old woman to old to barrel race?

My friend is 40 and barrel races, I'm 50 and would do it if that was what I was into. 32 too old? LOL

NO, no no!

There are lots of women who don't get into riding until they're quite a bit older, 50s even. Because the kids are grown, the mortgage is paid off, and now they finally have the time and money. It is not unusual AT ALL.

In California there is a gymkhana club which as divisions for age and speed, and there are divisions for 50+, 40+ etc.

It's not too late. Just do it!

To begin, what kind d of experience with horses do you have? Also to be consodered, what kind of horse do you have available to you? Is it you racing or someone you know? I would say no, go for it! You're expected to live to 80 so why not do it if your joints and ligaments are in good order? Again, go for it! Make sure you have a good mount. A horse with solid conformation and a good rapport with you is vital. you're never too young to try something new. Guage how your body reacts to general riding and practice barrel racing. Your biological instinct will let you know, but only if you apply yourself.
