Need to interview a cancer patient for a project. Please answer my questions!?

    How old were you, when you got diagnosed, and what cancer did you have?

    I was 45 with head and neck cancer from HPV

    How old are you now?

    48

    How long were you in the hospital?

    I wasn't

    Do you eat differently?

    Yes, treatment messed with my saliva glands, so I have a tough time with dry proteins (lean steak, chicken breast, some grilled fish)

    When did you get diagnosed?

    If the Fall. I don't know what you are asking

    What was your family’s reaction to you being clear?

    It is not a one day thing.

    What was your reaction when you got diagnosed?

    What was your reaction when you were clear of cancer?

    I knew I was going to beat it after I had a complete diagnosis.

    How long have you been diagnosed?

    No idea what you mean. I started treatment about 4 weeks after finding the initial tumor.

    What kind of therapy, treatment, did you have?

    Induction chemotherapy followed by external beam radiation and Erbitux

    How did your family react to you getting diagnosed?

    How long was chemotherapy, or other therapy?

    9 weeks of chemo, followed by 2 months of external beam radiation

    Who reacted the worst out of the bunch?

    My mom

    How long did you have the cancer?

    How should I know? I had no idea I had it, and then I found the lump, and was diagnosed with cancer. So one day I didn't have it, the next day I did. it was probably growing for a few months.

    Did the support from everyone help you?

    What support? My boss was really helpful

    What did you miss while you had cancer?

    Food. I went 4 1/2 months without solid food.

    If you took any type of chemotherapy, was it painful?

    Chemo was easy

    What was the most painful part?

    Recovery from radiation

    What did this experience teach you?

    Cancer sucks

    What did you feel like during chemotherapy(other than painful)?

    I was fine. chemo never hurt. It was not even that tough. I worked nearly full time

    Have you changed since the cancer?

    I lot 60 pounds, and then put about 15 back on, so I am way healthier being 45 pounds lighter, and am way more active now.

    How has it affected your daily life now?

    I am much more active, and I watch what I eat because of the dry mouth thing. Beer also tastes funny.

    Do people look at you differently now?

    Sure, I am a buff 175lb rock climber with a shaved head. I used to be a tubby 220 pound slug with thinning hair.

    What were you thinking when you got diagnosed?

    What cancer did you get diagnosed with?

    Head and neck cancer. The primary site was in my tonsil, and I had multiple metastases in the lymph node in my neck (stage IV)

    What is something you would tell someone who has just been diagnosed?

    Get your @$$ into treatment

    I am way more active now that I am lighter, and healthier.

    What did cancer change about your daily life?

    I work out almost every day and there are things I no longer bother trying to eat.

    Getting someone to type answers to your typed list of questions does not count as interviewing.

    Surely there is someone in your range of acquaintances who has had cancer? Approximately 1 in 2 males and 1 in 3 females are affected by he age of 85.
