Now is the ripe time to bring something new to the table. In things like punk rock and metal, you want to steer away from the common herd. Do something non-lyrical or incorporate a new influence from another genre for this music. Keep reinventing and don't use old tricks that have already have been relied on before by other punk rock and metal musicians.

Way back when, 24 or 25 probably would've been too old. But not in today's music scene, and especially not in metal/punk (real punk, at least). Bands in their 30s and 40s (and even 50s in metal) routinely break out onto the scene. The only requirement is that you can play.

    How old is too old?

    When you're dead.

Christopher Lee just released a metal album to celebrate his 92nd birthday. He does vocals on it. You might know him better as Sarumon in the Lord of the Rings movies.
