Does anyone else get confused by the new standards of comparison, size ,volume, mass, being used by the media?

Update:

Here in the U.K. we used to use, "Double Decker", buses when I was a child, now we use, "African Elephants", (non metro centric conversion of approximately 1.5 Elephants to a Bus.) Humorous replies appreciated.

    New Scientist magazine likes reporting those in the "Feedback" section.

    e.g.

    "The blue whale is Earth's largest creature, stretching the length of a basketball court and weighing as much as eight airplanes. "
