H&R block Instant cash back question?

so my friend went and filed his taxes at H&R block today and they told him he's getting a Refund of 3600$ but they wouldnt let him use the instant cash back option because he started working late in the 2014 year.. and i started about the same time as him and i'm going to hr block this year but i really want the instant cash back option

Update:

is that a really reason for them to deny him of instant cash back or what?

You don't need excellent credit, but your credit can't be in the toilet either. The banks that fund the RALs lost their shirts a few years ago by approving every application, including those whose credit was so horrible that even the payday loan stores wouldn't lend to them. If the refund didn't materialize, and there are many reasons that an expected refund can go away, the deadbeats never made good on the loans. When the banks tried to sue to recover, some smart attorneys pointed out that the borrowers' credit was so poor that no lender performing their due diligence responsibilities would ever loan them money. In many cases the courts agreed with this and threw the suits out of court or worse, found in favor of the defendant. Given the costs involved -- interest rates as high as 2,633% APR in the worst cases -- you should ONLY consider a RAL if you are facing immediate eviction or have hungry kids to feed and no food in the pantry. The RALs only get you your money a week or so quicker so unless you are in DIRE financial straits, skip the unnecessary expense and have your refund sent directly to your bank account in 8 to 14 days in most cases.

There may be fees for that advance not making it worth while, if you have uncomplicated taxes just using free software, like the program the IRS has may save you more.
