HTML entities no longer allowed?

It appears that HTML character entities are no longer allowed in answers - as a frequent answerer in the Mathematics category I made extensive use of these so that I could type π, √ ∫, ∂, ∈ and so on rather than having to dig up a character map and copy and paste π, √, ∫, ∂, ∈, etc. which is far slower and very inconvenient.

Any chance of getting them back?

Ah, so that really happened. No wonder why I couldn't use those entities anymore. Typing math isn't so much of a problem for me as I made myself a custom keyboard layout to type things like π, √, ∫, ², ℝ, ∆, ∈, ≠, ≈, ⇒, and so on via shortcut combinations, but occasionally a user in Programming and Design asks a question about how to type the angle brackets in HTML code without actually registering it as HTML code. Usually I would give them < and >, but it doesn't exactly help now that entities are no longer being processed.

This might be a long shot, but maybe you could email y_answrs_team@yahoo.com (yes, the "answrs" part is really missing an "e") about this. I have no idea if they'll even reply back to you, but it might be worth a shot to get a reason, or at least, inform them of the issue.

They are still allowed in answers. I've just used them to display the math symbols below:

    π, ∂, ∫, ∑, ∞, ∈, ⊂, →, ≤, ≥, ≠, Δ, √

But it seems they aren't allowed in questions.

I answered this question with an iPad. It doesn't allow you to write x^2 in mathematical notation, it doesn't accept superscripts.

NO site is going to return to what is basically a VERY insecure data entry system. As soon as you allow those it opens up the server to hacking attacks.

I noticed that too. Post your question in the Yahoo7 Products section and you may get an answer from someone at Yahoo.
