It is one of the best English programs I have ever seen. Really a brilliant satire on English life and politics and cleverly done with the main character addressing the viewer. I assume you mean the one with Ian Richardson from 1990 ? You must be very young person to be bored. The most action is Matty's car is trashed and the last scene when she gets thrown off the roof of a building.
