Looking to buy a VW jetta?
Hey! Im looking to buy a 2003 VW Jetta with 1.8t. However, Im worried about the maintenance costs and repairs. Are the cost for a VW jetta more than say your average Toyota or Honda? Im a college student, so I don't have all of the money in the world to pay for repairs. Please share you experiences and cost if you'd like!

VW keeps running these commercials where they talk about "fine German engineering", and they've been selling cars in the US FOREVER, but for SOME reason their reputation for reliability doesn't even come anywhere close to that of a Honda or Toyota.
The Jetta, especially an older one like that will keep you broke for sure. TRUST me on that.

I know for a while VW had problems with either its 1.8L or 2.0L turbo engines... Hit some VW forums and see what you can find out.
