What cause motion in space if there are no rockets attached to every planet or meteor?

    It could be any unbalanced force, including gravity. If an object is already in motion, it will stay in motion until acted upon by an unbalanced force. Objects in our solar system orbit the sun because of the suns gravitational field. The reason why they don't get pulled in is because not only is the force of gravity weaker as you get further out, the motion of the object is enough to keep it from breaking its orbit.
