What is snow like?

I live where, if we're lucky, we get one good snowfall a year. I run outside and look straight up as the big flakes float down and it nearly makes me dizzy. The snow makes the coolest scrunchy noise as you walk on it. We don't have air pollution, so the flakes are yummy fresh as they drop on your tongue. The whole land has a different sound to it. Kind of crisp, but muffled. I always avoided snowball fights, cuz it was too painful if the snow was too wet or icy, but rolling huge balls to make snowmen or forts was fun. We even once piled it so high and shaped it like a mountain, then covered it in blue & green food coloring....so pretty and it lasted well after all the other snow was gone. If it snowed more here, I'm sure I'd quickly grow tired of it. But where I live a day off for snow is very special.
