what's a good burglar deterrence?

Update:

so the edit category is not working for now.

here is my prob, we live in a bad country/neighborhood. cops cant do ****. we have frequent blackouts. so i dunno if they make battery door alarms. we have already installed door/window locks and grills. bad guys are determined robbers, they will kill if they can they dont care. they just kill you if you catch them in your house. they do drugs. we have 2 dogs, again these robbers are determined. they are smart too.

Update 2:

we live in a good neighborhood next to the ghetto/slum theres just a wall dividing and a tiny gate.

our option is to install a door alarm. then maybe handheld horns/loud alarms? no one wants to own a gun, my parents are old. then maybe add a cctv system? blackouts are frequent, and its also their favorite time. our two neighbors just got robbed recently. theres always burglery.

Dogs are a proven deterrent, more so than alarms, however alarms are also a great deterrent to 99% of all burglars. A few NRA stickers in the windows never hurt me, I have a NRA Lifetime member sticker in my front doors window. A dogs bark is the biggest deterrent.

a promise of manditory prison time.. not a threat, but an actual for sure promise.. perhaps a 5 year stint in a closet sized cell with a very large cell mate named brutus might keep criminals on the straight and narrow...

A couple of pit bulls, and for back up, a very high decibel alarm system, metal shutters on your back windows, and the piece de resistance - electrified window sills.

alarm systems can be loud if installed with the right equipment. Every alarm system has a backup battery for when power goes out. cctv can be designed with backup power as well.
