How do you know if you have a hernia?

I have a hernia. Before I got it fixed, it would rise up and a big knot would stick out on the left side of my lower abdomen. It kind of hurt. It was most noticeable when I was laying flat on my back.

You don't know for sure until the doctor has examined you, however, a possible indicator of a hernia is persistent pain in the lower abdomen

Only women can get a hernia. Its in the name. If men could get one it would be called a himnia. So if you're a woman you have a hernia.
