What if the rain came earlier and longer?

Chris Gayle's double century came in a match shortened due to rain. What if the rain came earlier and Zimbabwe was not able to bat the 20 over required for a match? Obviously the match would have been abandoned, but would Gayle's score still recorded in the records?

yes, the match just wouldn't have a winner (similar to a drawn test)
