Girlfriend not over ex boyfriend?

So my girlfriend was in a really serious relationship before we started dating but he was really abusive So she left him mainly because her parents wouldn't allow it. So we got together and we were pretty great until she started talking to him again. She said her friends kept getting between us so she asked if we could just lose our title but still be a thing. So we did and we were ok then Things got worse between us and she kept telling me that it'd not because of him. But I knew they are and she said she had feelings for him a little bit but would never go back to him because hes such an ***. She tells me every night she loves me though and things seem ok. I feel like our relationship would be fine with him but she still had that connection with him. We've been broken up since November (and it's almost march) and this had been killing me. Should I wait this out and hope for the best (even though I've been waiting forever) or do something else. what makes this hard is how well we work together. My family loves her (they think we're still dating) and I basically live at her house and her parents are second parents to me. So what should I do?
