Would you ever buy a used truck without having it checked by a mechanic? This guy has done all the maintenance at the required mileage.?
I'm alone and on foot, and I need a vehicle fast. I have a good feeling about this truck. It's an '04 and has 186,000 mostly highway miles on it. I can't drive it to my mechanics because the vehicle is not insured. This has been hard. Be honest, tell me I'd be crazy to buy this vehicle sight on seen at 6 grand.
Can you insure a vehicle for one day to get it checked out and whatnot?
It's a bit of a risk to drive it to the nearest mechanic without insurance. The way my luck has been going, I don't think I'll be doing that. There's got to be a way, I really want this truck. Or, having said that, be cool and wait for a bit and perhaps something else comes up.

I don't think you should ever purchase a used vehicle without having it fully checked out by a mechanic first.Besides that taking it for a good test drive is always a extremely wise thing to do too. What needs to be done first off is having the vehicle checked a full safety check really should be done on it by a licensed mechanic and if you can't bring the vehicle to a shop some mechanics offer on the road services where they come to where ever the vehicle is located.Otherwise having the vehicle towed to a shop that you know or trust is the second best bet.
Six grand sounds like a lot what you should do is check online and in auto trade books etc to compare what the going rate is for those vehicles in the condition it's in interior/exterior and compare the mileage etc.Besides that checking into what the insurance companies and insurance brokers want to insurance that make/yr/model of vehicle with you listed as the driver. Also it be a good idea to know what type of coverage you really need or want on the the vehicle and what's advantages or disadvantages they may have.Don't forget to keep in mind that different policies have different deductibles such as 300 or 500 bucks.I'd check insurance rates out way before even having a mechanic do a safety check on it.
Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way if you can't fully check any used vehicle before hand by test driving it in the city and at hwy speeds for awhile, plus get a mechanic to check it over fully I strongly suggest you don't buy it.Sometimes when shopping for a vehicle especially if you don't have a current vehicle or need one we look at the vehicle and seem to fall in love with them without truly checking around first we just purchase the first vehicle we see.Sometimes we tend to not look any further then just the basics like if the vehicle looks good to us then we make purchasing decisions instantly without checking everything out first so please don't rush such a major important investment.

Always take it for a test drive. Having it checked out by a mechanic is a good idea but usually costs you money unless you're buddies with one. I know a guy who bought a truck and handed over the cash straight up. The seller drove away and the truck died at the next light. Be careful when buying a car off someone. There's usually always something wrong with the car, you just gotta make sure it's worth it to you.

Hi yes you would need to these days that sort of maintence has been ruled as not acceptable by the manufacturers of the makers. as too much gets missed and as most cars now have engine management systems with computers both for engine and body units.long gone was the time when a person could do such jobs on a car or truck.
