why can;t i turn off headlamps on my ford explorer the light swicth was changed but the lights still stay on what can cause this?

    Your car has a feature called Daytime Running Lights. As long as the car is running, your low beam headlights are on about 70% power). (No tail lights).

    DRLs are required in Canada and Mexico, but not in the US. In fact, prior to 1995, they were illegal in the US. GM, Ford and Chrysler have added the feature to most of their vehicles, to reduce the number of variations needed to make cars for the entire North American Market.

    Your Ford Dealer can disable the feature. They will need your car for about an hour and need to work inside your dash to access the 2 parts that cause the behavior. However, you may get an insurance discount for leaving enabled.

    sounds like the switch is wired in wrong
