    Add to a soup.

Lentils cook so fast I can not imagine getting canned lentils, they may be very soft and mushy.

If they are I would make the soup and process the lentils to make the soup thicker and "creamier" with just the pureed lentils as the thickener.

I would make a soup out of them, with onion, garlic, carrot and potato. I would google a recipe for the specific herbs and spices to use. I might put in some diced ham or cooked diced bacon.

And I would serve that lentil soup with some sort of grain .. maybe cornmeal muffins, or a buttered whole wheat roll.

Grains + legumes (lentils are a legume) = complete protein (a substitute for eating meat).

Just google "black lentil recipes" .. there are many to choose from.
