Violation Notices Are they read and studied by moderators before being sent out or is this done automatically whether warranted or not?
Thanks to all of you for your answers. I'd like to give you all best answer on this. Hopefully there will be a better way of running this in future and that when we appeal we can get reasons why or why not our question or answer was reinstated as opposed to just a generic answer telling us to read the guidelines again.

Just done automaticially..and you are right there are people, with multiple accts, that if they decide they do not like you, will report any and everything.

Violation notices are done automatically if 2 or more people report it as a violation, they are only reviewed if appealed, if the appeal is successful, the violation is overturned and those who reported the question or answer, lose the effectiveness of any future violation reports they may try to do, the Computer simply ignores the violation reports they do in the future.

The initial report is automatic based on a formula of reports and reporters with the staff saying >90% are correct. If you appeal, that is reviewed by a Yahoo staff member. The simple reason for not reviewing initial violation reports is that it would take hundreds if not thousands of staff members. For a free site, that is not going to happen.

The moderators of Yahoo Answers are the community members. When they make a report, they usually read the question or answer before clicking on the report abuse flag. Yahoo Answers staff does not evaluate the report. The system is automatic. If you make an appeal, then Y/A staff will actually read the question or answer that was reported.

Thank you all. I was just a little frustrated as of late since some people report out of spite unfortunately even if you followed guidelines correctly. Hope this habit doesn't get viral any time soon..

Violation Notice is reviewed by the C C (Customer Care) before they are handed out to the oppressing user's email.
Hence their regards at the bottom of the email.

They are issued with the benefit of the doubt, otherwise it'd be too time consuming to have them read beforehand, and therein lies the problem of report abuse.

No They are just droned by volunteers because they are cheaper, but appeal process is broken.
