Is there a company who will digitize pictures fairly cheaply? I have like 2 or 3 thousand....help!?

2 or 3 plastic tubs (like the kind you put Christmas decorations Ina) full of family pictures and all family members want a copy. How can we get these digitized without doing them ourselves?

Buy a scanner. Do it yourself.

Nobody is going to scan like 2 or 3 thousand images cheaper than the cost of a half decent scanner.

If these are individual photographic prints, it's going to cost you a lot of money to have them scanned. Each print will need to be placed individually by hand into a scanner, but they could be scanned in batches - some scanner software will recognize multiple photographs and automatically detect their position, but the process cannot be fully automated. Someone will have to sit there for hours and hours placing the photographs into the scanner by hand.

Because of the handling of the pictures, "fairly cheaply" ends up being at least $1 and more likely closer to $2 each from my shopping experiences.

If you are determined to save money, take a look at buying the Epson V500 Photo scanner or its successors (if any) hat does high resolution scans of photos and negatives. It cost me under $150.

Then pay a reliable teen low wages to sit and be bored laying the photos in, scanning, and taking them out.

You can buy a scanner online that can put negatives / prints / and slides on a SDHC memory card.

I bought one on e bay, or maybe it was amazon. Look on both sites to see where you can get the best deal.

Watch craigslist for a free or cheap scanner. Or a all-in-one printer / scanner. The free section has old ones with good scanners. Then do it yourself.

Like the others said, if you want something done for cheap or free, you will have to do the manual labor yourself.
