The following steps are useful to improve the website ranking. 1. Modify the website such as title tag, meta tag and content by using SEO On Page Optimization. 2. Doing Directory promotions, Social Bookmarking and Article Submissions for promote website. This process are called SEO Off Page Optimization. with regards, Siva.

Yes, alt tags are very much important for image optimization, one more tip, keep the same name in your data base that you use on site alt tags for image description. this harmony of information will surely optimize your images with unique and appealing three words phrase description. before you assign some alt tags, make your alt tags list and provide yourself with some good descriptions and and then make their possible searches in Google. choose the less competitive names for your images and see results, this will make you smile on this strategy

Make sure your images have "intuitive names" that describe what they are- also make sure your images have "alt" tags that describe what they are -this is VERY important as Google has worked this into their search ranking because alt tags are important for people who are visually impaired and use screen readers-and one of Google's goals is to make the internet more accessible to everyone.

SO in other words-you DON'T want lines like this in your HTML-

<img src="img0002" alt=""> <--in this example "img002" means nothing to search engines and empty alt tags are just bad.

Ideally you should have one alt tag that matches your page title.

If you want to simply compress them so your pages load faster you can use the built in tools in Google's page speed add-ons for firefox or chrome and save the optimized images or you can use an online tool like this one :

I just title my imagines so people will find them, if they look for those keywords. The images themselves aren't great, but, hey, if you want an image of a teddy bears in the garden, you'll find my images. ;)
