I am thinking of moving to Australia, and need help finding the perfect city?
thinking of moving to Australia, want to find a city between 50k and 150k, on the ocean, warm weather year round, palmtrees. prefer not too expensive. I love to snorkel, body surf, and am a salesman by trade.

As a salesman by trade, you have no chance of being able to get a visa to move to Australia because your occupation is not eligible.
To answer your specific question; meeting your specifications also presents a problem. Warm all year round and palm trees means our northern tropics but the waters up there are all protected by coral reefs which means no surf. The only cities on the coast in the region with populations between 50k and 150k are Cairns, Mackay and Rockhampton (all in Queensland) and Darwin in the Northern Territory (though the crocodiles around Darwin make snorkelling something of a risky proposition).
Back to the drawing board.

Broome on the West Coast or Noosa on the East Coast. But they are way less than 50k population. If you want a bigger city, try Rockhampton, Mackay, Cairns (all East Coast). Noosa is good for surfing, all the rest are good for snorkelling (or at least nearby islands are). Obviously there are not too many places that are good for both surfing and snorkelling. Everywhere in Australia is expensive, sorry...

Brisbane is sub tropical - humid summers, mild winters. The cost of living is cheaper in Brisbane than the larger cities. Brisbane is more laid back and the people are friendlier. The city has access to excellent surf beaches both north and south coasts. Further up the Qld coast are a myriad of warmer tropical towns that offer good water recreational sports but these towns would have to suit your job.

Palm trees? Salesman? I don't think so somehow. Salesman do not get a smidgen of a mention on the skills list.
Try Cuba or the Dominican, they will take anyone.
