In school you will learn them all. I think it is important to at least try them all once to see what you like using the most, but only if you are going to school for it. I loved using oil pastels.

Whatever feels comfortable for you.To start cheaply, butchers paper and some 2b pencils,charcoal.Play around with shapes,shading etc.Try coloured pencils and crayons on cartridge paper.No need to spend a fortune.Focus on enjoying your creativity.Keep it simple to start.
