Why does it cost more to travel from US to Italy and not Italy to US?

I'm italian, the flight from Italy to US normally costs 800-900€ (not dollars)

Americans have the better economy and can better afford it. The average Italian can't afford $1,000 for a two week jaunt to the Statesm PLUS Hotels and Meals......you're looking at a $3000 vacation.......but sometimes you see good deals in Feb/ March.......and Sept/Oct for as little as 500 euro. (That's still about $665 in US dollars)

Depends on the airline, where in the US you're travelling to/from, what day of the week you travel, what time of the year, what time of the day. You have to shop around for the deals.
