Need to upgrade my work PCs CPU it s a Dell Dimension 2350 , Its a pre-built. stock everything. No choice but to upgrade.?
I cant buy or build a new PC for work i have looked around but i don't know if the motherboard is capable of handling the Pentium 4, 3.4ghz processor or not... Going from an i7, sli 970s, and 16gb of ram to this is horrifying.
Also all it needs to do is basic word process and some internet use... the internet is the issue takes like 30 seconds to load google. and i already upgraded the ram to the max the motherboard is capable of.

Hi,
If all you plan on doing is word processing and web surfing I'm not sure that upgrading the hardware on your system is the way to go. Overtime systems end up getting so many software applications, files, etc., on them that it really does affect system speed and cleaning them up is the best way to go.
Here are couple of links you may want to look at. The first one is from Microsoft and deals with why internet connections can be slow. The second one is from Dell's support pages and shows you how to optimize your system and it's resources.
Since it's a business system I assume that simply wiping off the drive and doing a fresh install of Windows isn't really an option? Because, if it is, that is the easiest way to speed up the computer.

The last thing I might suggest is to clear out your temporary internet files. IE (and other browsers) keep many of the links and locations you have accessed to try to speed up your internet connection to favorite sites. Over time that file becomes quite large and can have the reverse effect.

I hope this helps. It's all free and relatively easy to do. It should help and keep you from having to do upgrades, which honestly may just cost money and not really affect anything.
