Can I get a job without state issued I.d.?

I have no state I.d. I am 18 and looking for work. I have a few school I.d. with name and picture, and a social security card. I can't get a birth certificate and I don't have one. I was adopted and the adoption was not done right, and my name was not saved in records or something dumb like that. I can't order birth certificate to get a state I.d. because I've tried already multiple times and spent hundreds. It comes back as me not in record. I could get on if I had my original social security with my birth last name, but I don't. I have had a job before but I was 16, and im not sure what to do.

I would try the social security administration. I think someone there will know what you need to do. If you live close to an office, then I would make an appointment to talk to someone in person.

If that doesn't work, then the next step is to talk to a lawyer. In Michigan (some other states) they have a group called "legal aid", and sometime they do free legal work for poor.

Of, go to a lawyer and find out how much it would cost. Often times it doesn't cost as much as you think. And maybe the lawyer will accept a payment plan.

Without a state ID, your going to be limited in what kind of work you can do. But you can still work. You can do odd jobs, like shoveling a walk way or mowing a lawn. Smaller companies might higher you.

If nothing else, you can work hard doing odd jobs and save up money to hire a lawyer.

But first try Social Security Administration. Because they know who has what records and I think they'll know how to fix it.

You will NOT GET any legitimate job, without valid identification. That is all there is to that. It is required by law. So..you HAVE TO find a way to get the issues dealt with. From what you say, it will require a lawyer.

You're going to be very restricted in what you ever do in life if you don't get a birth certificate somehow. You need to talk to someone about that.

Find a probono lawyer (works for free). He will help you clear up the legal stuff so you can work. The local unemployment office would probably be able to help you too.
