    Use FOIL.

    First Terms

    Outer Terms

    Inner Terms

    Last Terms

(x + 9)(x + 3). The first terms are the two x's. Multiply them. You will get x² because if you add their exponents (1 and 1) you will get 2. Now, the outer terms. They are x and 3 right? What's 3 times x? isn't it 3x? thats correct! Now, the inner terms. They are 9 and x! Multiply them together! You will get 9x. Now, the last terms. They are 9 and 3. What's 9 times 3? It's 27 right?

    ---> x² + 3x + 9x + 27

Combine like terms. Aren't they 9 and 3. What's 9 + 3. It's 12 right? If we two numbers of the same degree. They can be combined! So, 3x + 9x is 12x.

    Final answer ---> x² + 12x + 27

    Compare to 3rd grade math --- 27 X 31 = (20 + 7) X (30 + 1)

which parts get multiplied? trick question -- all get multiplied

In algebra the same thing happens all parts get multiplied

    (x + 9)(x + 3)

    = x(x) + x(3) + 9(x) + 9(3) now simplify

    = x^2 + 3x + 9x + 27 combine like terms

    = x^2 + 12x + 27 <<< answer

This is how. Try to learn this today.

    (a + b)*(c + d) = ac + bc + ad + bd

Doing that with the brackets you were given

    x^2 + 9x + 3x + 27

combine the middle terms in x

    x^2 + 12x + 27

    FOIL

    First x*x

    Outer x*3

    Inner 9*x

    Last 9*3

    Add them up..

    x^2 + 12*x + 27

    okay

first step is to multiply the x by (x +3)

    so

    x*x = x^2

    and x*3 =3x

    add them together will give

    x^2 + 3x

    now

to the same for the 9

    9 by (x +3)

    9*x =9x and 9*3 = 27

    add them

    9x+27

now collet both steps and add them

    x^2+3x+9x+27

this can be simplified because 3x+9x= 12x

    so x^2+12x +27 <<<<<< answers

    (x+9)(x+3)=x×x+3x+9x+27

    (x+9)(x+3)= x²+12x+27
