Bypassing the many great players whose careers concluded before 1933 (Cobb, Wagner, Young, etc.), we come to Rogers Hornsby. A definite inner-circle HOFer, Hornsby was only a bit player during his seasons when the All-Star Game was played (1933-37, total of 113 games, 235 PA), but was never named an All-Star, not even for honorary or token reasons.
In more recent seasons, Tim Salmon and Todd Zeile.
