he missed too much time at the beggining of the season with a hand injury ( i think it was around 6 weeks), if he never had that injury and played the way he did, he would absolutely be in the discussion, same goes for anthony davis in the dpoy and mvp conversation, he was a frontrunner for both of those before he hurt his shoulder. injuries kill your chances to win awards. it sucks, i wish he was in the convo too. but ur a clippers fan so be happy because deandre jordan is easily the frontrunner right now :)

He missed 18 games with injuries. When he has played, Pop has kept his minutes down (currently averaging 31.6 minutes per game), so his stats don't jump out at you.

But the most important reason is that like the rest of the Spurs he wasn't playing that well earlier in the season. Not that they were awful, but they looked nothing like the team that demolished the Heat in the Finals. Now it's April, spring is here, the birds are singing, flowers are blooming, and the Spurs are kicking ***.

Its not like the Spurs players are media darlings. Why the hate? Do you see Spurs in sound bytes or in highlights every 5 minutes on ESPN or doing interviews everyday? Coach Pop is a Drill SGT! he only teaches defense.....of course his players would win the award.

I think it's because he missed a good chunk of the season due to injury. He was out for about 20 games which will have a big impact his chances.
