Yahoo Answers is shutting down on May 4th, 2021 (Eastern Time) and beginning April 20th, 2021 (Eastern Time) the Yahoo Answers website will be in read-only mode. There will be no changes to other Yahoo properties or services, or your Yahoo account. You can find more information about the Yahoo Answers shutdown and how to download your data on this help page.

was the answering format changed AGAIN???

The quantity of answers used to show under the questions and by clicking on them, you could add your answer too without losing your scrolling position in the topic you were answering in.

Update:

....but I'm confused because I thought after the green format was eliminated (and that is still a mystery why), this feature was not included in the current format until maybe 9 months ago (maybe more or less). So it is one of the NEWER features added....yet taken away ALREADY?

Looks like Y!A are tinkering with the format again, and unfortunately again it's not really clear to what advantage the latest changes are to many users.

It's noticeable that the elimination of how many people have answered a question has only been removed from the "Answer" stream and not the "Discover" one (where there are usually questions which generally get reasonable amounts of answers). The net result is that it:

    A) Does not show now how few answers are placed to questions these days compared with the past

    B) It requires additional page clicks from users to be able to see how many answers and/or answer them

Whether this is accidental or a deliberate design decision is anyone's guess and time will tell I suppose.

EDIT - yes Yahoo continue to play around with things constantly

e.g. answering questions which already have a Best Answer

    - When it started you didn't earn 2 points for answering these questions

    - Then they changed it so you did

    - Now it's back to you not getting the points again

e.g. being able to delete questions if the answers are also deleted

    - I saw an asker test it and she couldn't delete a question which had the answer removed

    - Apparently three months ago it was possible to do that

    - Now? It's anyone's guess!
