Has anyone heard of Emotional Support Animals?
My daughter was reading about it and I was wondering if anyone has any experience doing this with their dog. I know there is a physical and emotional list of 'problems' that they use. We each have several problems under each list. I need to do further research but was wondering if anyone has any experience with this. We have our own black lab BTW, so we don't need a dog! Thank you for any help.

Of course. Emotional Support dogs are basically pets owned by individuals with emotional problems diagnosed by a doctor. There is no specialized training since the dog's existence and closeness is what makes the person feel better.
However, these ESAs are not to be confused with highly trained Service Dogs that perform certain tasks for disabled people. Service Dogs can be taken just about anywhere the public is invited - ESAs do not enjoy these same privileges because they are basically pets.

Its just a pet. Nothing more. It has no special privileges or anything. They can't go into stores or anything, can't be in pet free housing and if there is a breed or weight restriction then you can't have the dog

Yes though they are not Regd Service Dogs though because there is no official body that recognises them as such.
