I have a question about saving for retirement.?

I'm currently contributing the maximum amount that's allowed/year to my 401k through my employer. Is it a good idea to open up and invest in a mutual fund account such as Vanguard so I can save more money for my retirement?

Vanguard has some of the best mutual funds.

Open a Roth IRA into Vanguards Wellington Fund (VWELX)

    Low risk and great returns.

Have you locked in today's lower house prices and lower interest rates? If you are saving up for the house, a mutual fund sounds like a decent deal. [The stock market has been level for about a month now.]

Yes, and make the account a Roth IRA.
