does he not love me as much before or is just because he's going through something?

My boyfriend & i have been dating for 2 years now and were currently in a LDR (he's away in college). Lately he's been struggling and i can tell he's not happy and I've tried to help him, talk to him and give him advice but he really doesn't know how to explain whats going on in his head. Well, I've been feeling sad lately because i feel like he isn't into as much as he was a week or two ago. He would constantly tell me he loves, say cute things, send me cute messages and all of it has stopped. I don't know i just really feel unloved by him. Should i not feel this way?
