Does anyone like this little blurb I wrote of a book I actually might consider writing?

"There is something evil lurking in the forest which surrounds red-sky castle and Vladimir, a turkish crusader; chooses to be the savior of his people, promising to extinguish any omens in his path. A ruthless, arrogant king forbids his involvement noticing Vladimir's success can relinquish power to the defenders of the faith. In the darkest depths of night lies the answer - the power of the “the elder sword”. A relic that has been nothing more than a mere weapon of lore which stems from the hearts of men. An instrument of power that originates from stories told by few who swore to glare upon it. Will Vladimir restore peace to his realm? And why is the king so reluctant to follow the orders of a religious magistrate? I invite you to an epic tale of might, magic and madness."

- I'm frequently asked to get into writing my own books, but being an author is something I've been hesitant about. Please let me know what you guy's think.

Well maybe you put the cart before the horses here. A book blurb really is needed once the story is written and being prepared into a book. ONCE you have written you know what should be mentioned, what you want to keep secret so that the readers of the actual book will find out and what makes the most sense.

Yes there are some weird details in your blurb that doesn't really draw me in.

First write your story if you are going to publish it or not it is a great thing to do. Hell if you don't publish or can't publish it at least you have the experience of writing a longer story.

Go write and let all the details about book cover and blurb lay down. At least until the moment that you feel it bubbling up from within yourself.

If you ask me if I would like the idea for the book? It will be hard to write it in such a great way that it will get above the rest of the books within its genre. BUT if you do it might be a good read.

There are a lot of mistakes. It sounds like a billion other sword and sorcery novels. I personally cannot stand blurbs that end with questions. How the hell do I know if Vladimir will restore peace to the kingdom? You wrote it, you tell me. (This may not bother most readers.) "I invite you" is an odd choice for a blurb and it comes across as a bit too chatty and informal for this purpose. None of which actually matters since it is the height of absurdity to write blurbs for nonexistent books.

It sounds interesting but it also sounds like a few hundred other fantasy books out there. From that small blurb I now gather there is the clichés of a evil king, a magical object, a chosen one and a few other. One of the hardest thing for todays writers is to write something unique and special. If you were to write it I would be careful to make it your own story, mix it up and make it different. It is dangerously close to falling into the category of a hundred other stories that go exactly the same way.

Elder wand - er sword, or whatever. "few who swore to glare" - what does this even mean? Writing blurb is fine and takes little time and effort. Writing books is hard work and time consuming and your English prose must be high quality. No evidence of that here yet. Keep dreaming.

The best writings come from people who write what they want to write. It could have a lot of potential. Sure it is a lot like other stories, but if its something you want to write; then write it. If you want help finding ideas you should read "Knockout Your First Book" on Amazon.

This lost me on 'Vladimir, a Turkish crusader'. I simply don't know what it means. There are other phrases further along that puzzle me, too.
