Why do people say I have an eating disorder!?

I am 15 years old and I am currently 25 lbs overweight because of a health issue. All my life I have ate healthy, exercised the best I could and took care of my self. The past 2 weeks i have been starving my self eating less than 500 calories a day. I have lost 10 lbs so far, because I got really low and all of the bad things people said about me when I was younger about my weight still huant me. My parents caught on and are forcing me to eat but I can't. Every time I do I feel so depressed, sad, ugly etc. I have to weigh my self at least once a day somtimes twice. I don't know what to do. Everyone is saying I have an eating disorder but I don't think I do. I am truly trying to eat more but it is emotionally hard. Today i ate the most i have had in a long time and it still want a proper ammout of food. I feel like throwing it up. Advice?

Yes it sounds like you are starting to develop an eating disorder. You will only be diagnosed with Anorexia when you are actually underweight, to be diagnosed with Anorexia you have to have a BMI of under 17.5 so it sounds you would fit the diagnosis of EDNOS (Eating Disorder Not Otherwise Specified) which is given to those with an eating disorder that do not actually fit the criteria for Anorexia, Bulimia or Binge Eating Disorder.

I have Anorexia, trust me it is not worth it. I got to the point everything hurt and I mean everything. My whole body ached and I just spent days on end in bed crying because of it. It causes such awful health complications. You need to see a professional right away so you can start to get the help you need. Good luck x

Feeling sad and ugly every time you try to eat is definitely not normal. It would be really nice if you could find a professional to talk to to help you sort out your emotions and your feelings towards food. I have also attached this article called, "Do I Have an Eating Disorder?" that I thought you might find interesting. Hang in there, and I hope you get to feeling better.

You are inquisitive to hear rumors. They take advantage of your weakness.
