Previous renter smoke in my place?

The previous owner smoked in my duplex and we have pulled the carpet and repainted over the walls. The place doesn't smell as bad as it first did but I recently noticed on my clothing that they smell a little like smoke. I have recently been reading on third hand smoke and I'm freaking out that I'm going to be harmed by breathing in the smoke in my place from the previous owner. I'm a very paranoid person but I don't smoke and I don't want to be damaged by the third hand smoke. Am I worrying to much? Or should I be concerned? The entire place has been cleaned and bleached in areas but still has a bit of an odor to it. Please help!! Thanks!!

The smell is likely from the paint and new flooring, not old cigarettes if it's been cleaned as much as you claim. However, smells may linger in closed spaces like closets. Use a fan to circulate air in there a day or two. You'll be fine. Like you said yourself, "I'm a very paranoid person". Calm down.

You are a hypochondriac. There is no smoke left in the air, and unless the previous tenants were cooking meth a little residue isn't going to do the least bit of harm.

It's just a smell. You are not inhaling the smoke.

I don't think the smell will go away. The drywall is like a sponge. You will probably have to replace all the walls

It's general wear and tear. Painting the skirting boards usually gets rid of it.

What remains is not second hand smoke, but just the smell. It will not harm you.
