why are old people so stupid?

Update:

They're slow and most of the time just plain stupid. They everything explained to them, even things they've used before. Does mental ability decay as you age?

I started out in high school with an IQ of about 140. Granted, I've studied all my life,. but for about 20 years I was one of the most hard core scooter tramps in the nation. And during those 20 years I hardly drew a sober breath, and went through 3 to 4 oz's of pot every day to say nothing of the other drugs I took. I loved that life, nopt only the freedom of jammin' down the highway on Harley, but all the booze and drugs dumbed me down so I fit in. The only time I have in my life. Then I met a woman who I loved more than my freedom. I settled down and gave up my drinking and my drugs. Later I took another IQ test, and my IQ had jumped to over 170.. Now I'm on so many pain meds, class A narcotics, That I feel like my brain is Swiss cheese, and everything is falling out the holes. But I can still out think most people. So don't judge a book by it's cover unless you like crow..

To prove how smart all your young friends are I suggest you sit them down in a large room with an equal number of people over 70 years of age and conduct spelling tests, mental arithmetic tests, reading aloud tests and listen to their vocabulary during general discussion. You'll soon know which group are the smarter group. The younger ones will not even understand some of the correct vocabulary used by the older group.

Once done, remind yourself that in the next 20 years or so most of these older people will be gone and your country will be being run by people who are very similar to the young nitwits. Lucky us and poor you.

There is a big difference between stupid and forgetfulness. Just like there is a big difference between respect for the elderly who WANT to remember things and take care of them selves, but no longer can, and those who make fun and disparaging comments because they feel justified in doing so. But fear not! You don't have to end up like us. YOU still have a way out!

My mother is an intelligent woman but at age 89 she is slowing down mentally. In the past year she has begun to forget things and she isn't nearly as quick to pick up on things as she used to be. She is struggling - and she knows it and she is becoming easily confused. That doesn't make her stupid.

    And shame on you.

I have seen fair share of young people but usually young people are stupider than older are.

Uh Oh......sounds like this is genetic, what you just explained WILL happen to you when you grow old with wrinkles, sagging, limping, toothless, poor eyesights, bruise skins, cracked bones, hearing loss, etc etc etc.

Better watch out *Karma* hits pretty hard when people like you slap older folks down.

Why don't you ask your mama and daddy or grandpa or grandma, maybe they can help you into your golden years...

If you were stupid when young then you will be stupid when you get old.

Old people are not "stupid" but we can be forgetful.

You will find this out as you age.

Humans are much like computers. As we age, our memories fill up, and just like a computer, we slow in retrieving information. It's all in there though!
