Hurts after having tampon in?

I managed to put in a tampon (kinda) for the first time today but it really hurt and was uncomfortable. I know this means it isn't fully in but it literally wouldn't go in any further, it was as much use as pushing it agianst a brick wall.

I tried to ignore it for a few minuted and walked around but i could feel it. i took it out then, but for the last 30 minutes i still really hurt and it feels uncomfortable still.

Is this normal? Any advice?

It sounds like you might have put it in the wrong way. You have to find out which angle works best with your body. You shouldn't be able to feel it that much when you are wearing one. If you are really worried though you could always go to a doctor.
