Can I join the British Royal Marines if I have a British Passport but I was born in South Africa?

As it says above.

I m South African but I want to move to the United Kingdom by the end of this year to join the Royal Marines. I ve got citizenship due to my father being a Welshman and my two Uncles on his side both spent over 10 years in the army.

So would I qualify, if I can pass all the physical and mental tests or wouldn t it work out?

The British Royal Marines are a Branch of the Royal Navy.

To join the Royal Navy you will need to be a national of Britain, Ireland or the Commonwealth. If you have dual nationality, you can still join. But some roles have stricter requirements than others for security reasons.

If you’re a British national living abroad you can still apply. And if you don’t meet the residency criteria, don’t worry. You might still have the chance to join the Royal Navy on a short term security clearance until you reach the standard period of residency.
