I enjoy both genres, but I prefer post punk. As much as I appreciate the talent and intricacy, and even enjoy a few acts (Godspeed You Black Emperor, Explosions in the Sky, Trans Am, Tortoise, etc.) post rock can just tend to be a little long-winded for my tastes and it is a mood that I am more rarely in.

Huh....that's a tough one. Both of those genres are excellent, but I think that I like post-punk more. Post-punk has a lot of diversity to it: You have the gothic post-punk such as The Cure, Siouxsie and the Banshees & Joy Division, new wave such as Talking Heads & Devo, and the experimental post-punk such as Pere Ubu, Public Image Ltd. & This Heat. Plus, bands such as Sonic Youth, R.E.M., Swans & even Husker Du, The Replacements & The Smiths could be classified as post-punk. Post-punk is a great genre of music, in general.

Post-punk delivered PiL, Joy Division, BAD and other quality bands from the corporate implosion of punk rock.....give 'em a huge edge.

Post-Rock doesn't exist, and Post-Punk is another name for New Wave, so Post-Punk.
