How big a house do I need?

It's just my wife and I; we have a dog, and a three bedroom house. How much bigger should I go?

I don't see why you need anything larger than a 3 bedroom - many would say that is too big for a couple and a dog. Once you have children you will likely need a bigger house but you could probably get away with 3 kids in a 3 bedroom before needing to move.

Do you need a room for a home office? How about a crafts and hobbies room? You may want a guest room. Some people use a small room as their eartquake supply room, or a place to put a bird that is messy so it confines the mess to one area and allows the bird to see outdoors. Some people grow beautiful flowers under lights. I know a person with one small bedroom dedicated to window perches for her cats, some floor to ceiling cat climbing trees, and litter pans plus storage for cat litter, a broom, and canned cat food she buys in bulk. How many rooms you need depends on what you like ti do and need room for. If you have grandchildren and their parents who come to visit, yoiu need a couple of rooms for them. If you have a big collection of something, give it its own room. Maybe one of you would like a nice room (maybe soundproofed) to watch and yell at the TV in? Make a list of what you might need more room for, discuss it and decide for yourselves.

Do you plan on children? Do you each need your own den? Do you plan on that being your final dream home, until you die or might you want to move 10 or 20 years from now? Sometimes, a child is unexpected. And a guest bedroom might be handy.

You're fine as you are. Don't change anything.
