Where do people who live in Hawaii go for a vacation?

We visit other islands as they're all a bit different and have different things to offer. We also go anywhere and everywhere that people who DON'T live in Hawaii go! Since moving to Hawaii 10 years ago, I have been to Switzerland, Italy, the Cayman Islands, and several states on the U.S. mainland. I am planning a trip to Thailand as well. I have visited Oahu countless times, Maui twice, and the Big Island twice.

las vegas. no matter what trip they go on, their last stop is always some time spent in vegas. why, i don't know, but maybe because it's SO the polar opposite of hawaii.

anyone who gives a -1, like i give a sh**, doesn't know a damn thing about the hawaii residents, and that's the only reason i'm editing my answer. hawaii is a PRIMARY destination. they LOVE all that glitz. they LOVE to see all the live shows - vegas is so different from what they experience on the islands. and excuse me, but i'm sorry to aloha.girl59, but she never grew up in hawaii, she only moved there. hawaiians don't travel to where she's traveled....cayman islands??!!! LOL, from hawaii ? there's even a hotel in downtown las vegas that caters SPECIFICALLY to hawaiian travelers and serves stuff like spam musubi

Good Q? My first 6 months on the Islands I found 3 people (born and raised there) who convinced me they've been to another Island! Others who moved there, generally visit the other Islands. One I recall went on a hunting trip to his ranch back in Montana. Quite a few go to Vegas. Most I met never been to anywhere else, even those I meet on the Mainland.

Many go to the mainland to visit friends and family. But Hawaii IS a vacay place so we dont need to go anywhere else.

Las Vegas, it's the ninth island. Or on a cruise or some place with historic value usually

If people have relatives in Asia, elsewhere in the Pacific, on the mainland, etc., they'll often go visit them, too.
