One of the most common problems with all remotes
is easy to deal with if you are reasonably dextrous and patient...
Over time, the 'rubber' button sheet breaks down chemically.
From this, a somewhat slimy non-conductive goo develops
and coats the contacts on the circuit board.
I have successfully treated several remotes to remedy this problem.
Disassemble the remote (this may be quite a tricky process
because some remotes have a number of very fragile latches
holding them together).
Thoroughly clean both sides of the button sheet
and the contact side of the circuit board
with 91% isopropyl alcohol, applied with Q-Tips.
>> DO NOT use 70% or 50% "rubbing" alcohol.
Allow about 10 minutes to dry.
Reassemble and test.
If the problem remains, have a TV repair shop check both the remote and the TV.
