Should I go to the gyno?

I'm 16 years old and have had my period for four years. I have tried time after time but have never been able to use a tampon. I have tried every type and I have tried every technique but it just won't even go in a little. I don't have a weird period or anything but a tampon just won't go in. I'm going to Cabo in July with my family and I might get my period, but we're going scuba diving and swimming. Should I tell my parents and go to the doctor?

Use a mirror to examine yourself. Spread your labia & see if there is skin covering your hymen. If you do, it has to have a hole in is because you get your period. So you know that the problem isn't that your hymen is blocking it. Use the smallest tampon. Tampax Pearls have the hard plastic applicators that are easier for beginners.

Put water around your vaginal opening. Squat over the mirror or stand with one foot on sonething like the diagrams show. Look at the cutaway insides drawing. Think about how your insides look. RELAX. Spread your lips & push tampon into the opening of the hymen. You may need to push a little harder but youll be fine. AIM FOR THE SMALL OF YOUR BACK. Push tampon in up to your fingers. Then push the plunger. Slowly remove plunger. Stand up. If you feel it use your finger to push it all the way up.

If it stll doesn't then go to the Dr. Your hymen may be thicker.

The first time i used them i didnt stick it in far enough (i was afraid i was going to loose it) and it hurt so bad but once i figured out it was suppose to go all the way in i didn't even feel it. Try putting your feet on a stool while u try to insert it. You could even lube your vag up a little b4 hand that might help.

Can you stick your index finger in and up with no issue? If that's the case, I think your tampon problems are psychological. If you can't, then yes, see your doctor.

It was really hard for me to get into tampons but once I did and used them for awhile it was fine. But some people just never really get into them and thats fine too. It might be because your hymen is still intact and so it's more painful to insert things into your vagina

No a doctor can't help you with that. Virgins can have very narrow vaginas.
