Why does my iPhone 5c say "Searching..." at the top?

It's not the SIM card that's messed up, it's something inside the phone. What could it be?

    That's a carrier network issue. Try using Airplane Mode, turn off & on & restart the phone to see if either helps.

    its trying to find service. It might be because you have a bad provider or you are in a place with little service.

    "Searching" indicates that it is searching for a Cellular signal to connect to.
