I have had pancreatic three times now. It has become chronic. And the doctors don't know the why of it. How can I avid it happening again?

I don't drink and no history of drinking. I am not diabetic and I have had my gallbladder removed years ago.

The pain is unbearable and I don't ever want to suffer with it again. How can I prevent it, if they don't know what causes it???

The most common cause of it is gallstones. You can still form gallstones in the liver, after your gall bladder is out. Some other causes are alcohol, high triglycerides, medications and scorpion stings. Idiopathic, unknown cause, is another. If your drainage tubes, called the common bile duct and pancreatic ducts, have been investigated for strictures/ stones with ERCP or MRCP, then you might have an idiopathic cause.
