Writers: First line of your story? + BQ's?

I'm not the sharing type, when it comes to my writing, personally, but one thing I've often enjoyed are little things like this, where writers can share without really sharing. There can be more elegance or at least more art/power in a line or two then in entire paragraphs, when it comes from the right writer.

So, if you want to, what's the first line of your book/story?

BQ1: What's the last line you wrote?

BQ2: What's your own personal favorite first line you've written?

BQ3: What are some of your favorite first lines of books from literature?

Cheers!

BQ1: What's the last line you wrote?

Though he weighed well over four hundred pounds, he chipped at his problems with the delicacy of a frail child. He would one day act on being gay instead of using his body as a shield, but not any time soon.

BQ2: What's your own personal favorite first line you've written?

    "Abso-****ing-lutely gorgeous," James said.

"You like?" My face warmed. He'd given this compliment only once in all the years we've been together, the first time he saw me naked. ("Brick by Brick")

BQ3: What are some of your favorite first lines of books from literature?

The last camel died at noon. ("Key to Rebecca")

My first line is: "‘Don’t leave!’ she begged.

I would have taken her seriously had it not been for the half empty bottle of vodka in her hand and the blossoming bruise on my cheek. "

BQ1: The last line I wrote was: "I wanted somewhere that I could paint my own future, without someone else grabbing the palette and smearing the canvas with their own rendition. "

BQ2: My favourite first line that I wrote was "It was a beautiful summer, which was odd because it was meant to be November".

I scrapped that idea, though that line and scene is still in my current book - it fitted in nicely.

BQ3: I like the line from the book "Five People You Meet in Heaven" - "This is a story about a man named Eddie and it begins at the end, with Eddie dying in the sun".

    (1) Jimmy is pulled out of restless sleep by arms that cling tightly to him and, as he opens his eyes to an unfamiliar blur, he can find nothing but Michelle, her head buried into his bare chest so only her hair is visible. (1A) From their point of view, their daughter steps into the large pane of mirrored glass. From how 'Chelle has described it, he doesn't want to know Susan Linda's view. (2) I've written too many to select. (3) Marley was dead, as dead as a doornail.

    1. As he fell, his life literally flashed before his eyes. Oh, god.

    2. "I dreamt of a girl in a cashmere dress."

"Summary of the book- everybody died."

"In the letter you never wrote to me, you told me you loved me."
