find the maximum height of a rocket?

gravity = 10N/kg

rocket mass = 0.05kg

rocket velocity = 12m/s

kinetic energy, (1/2m*v^2) = 3.6J

therefore gravitational potential energy = 3.6

(ignore air resistance)

In order to find the maximum height, the formula is (difference in GPE = mass * gravity * height)

rearrange this to be (GPE/mass*gravity = height)

3.6/0.05*10 = 7.2 meters

Am I correct?

    With only the information you gave us, you could do an energy balance and you would be correct. If you gave us the entire problem, then we could see if the there were any steps you missed.
